Treatment in Bioenergetic Analysis is comprised of assessment based on the theory of character structure, application of bodily and energetic techniques, and the co-created relationship as an avenue for healing. The case of a young woman, who initially presented with self-identified “anger issues” and destructive behavior will be discussed. We will follow the journey of what I, as a clinician, found to be a sweet dispositioned, intelligent woman with depth. The multi-pronged focus will be on the intrapersonal (relationship with self) and interpersonal (relationship with others) factors that 1) guide a therapist in identifying character structure, and 2) point to when and how to begin the somatic work. Backdrop themes to be touched on include cumulative relational trauma, transference and countertransference, sadism, and addiction recovery.
