In preparation for the 2025 International Conference of the International Institute for Bioenergetic Analysis, the NY Society kicks off a series of professional activities related to the conference theme which is: The Uniqueness of Bioenergetic Analysis: Synthesizing Psychoanalytic and Contemporary Perspectives in the Embodied Practice
This workshop will explore the construction of a bioenergetic psychotherapy process using a psychodynamic understanding. This includes the therapist’s role, the construction of the therapeutic space, the use of active techniques, and the development of somatopsychic conceptual framework for understanding people and the psychotherapeutic process.
Using an experiential learning method, as well case material, participants will study the way a depth psychotherapy unfolds when somatopsychic process is given the same priority as emotional, cognitive, and interpersonal processes. The discussion will include the complexities added when touch and active work are included in the technical possibilities available to the therapist.
