The many changes in attitudes of men to women, and vice-versa of the last fifty years, even a cursory look at a world filled with sexual violence and oppression of women calls out for analysis. Bioenergetic Analysis rests on a foundation of an understanding of somatopsychic structure and process, the indissoluble identity of emotion, psyche, attitude, and thought. Using this method of understanding human reality provides a tool for a deep investigation into the basic relations of men and women.
The workshop begins with a reprise of Scott Baum’s presentation on men’s internal identity as men in relation to the difference between them and women because of the difference in the capacity to carry, bear, and birth children. This will be an amplification of that presentation to include other elements of his research into this question. This is an intensely personal and experiential presentation.
This will be followed by an extended period in which participants can use the presentation as a launch point for a personal exploration on this theme. If the group of participants is too large for a discussion, the group will break up into smaller groups led by a facilitator, and then reconvene for a whole group discussion for the last portion of the workshop. The intention is to provide an environment for consciousness-raising on this theme through the use of a bioenergetic perspective which emphasizes the value and meaning of a sophisticated response to somatic processes and their embodiment of mind and attitude in each of us.
The workshop will be conducted remotely. The first two hours will be a presentation. Then a movement group followed by a break. The last two hours will be in a large or small group followed by a reconvening and debriefing in the whole group.
